Stress Need Not be Forever
by: Gavin, Unlock Your Happiness.com

Thank you for your e-mail, which brought a tear to my eye ... literally. I hope you find something on my website that helps you through these difficult times you are going through.

Everything on the site is available free of charge. So explore it at your leisure and take from it what you are drawn to.

I wish you well.

Gavin

Thank you

Thank you for your quick and one-on-one response. The fact that it is human contact is already a consolation. I have a daughter in Vancouver that I have not seen for ten years and no other family.

A lady passed along to me a sheet from the Durham unemployment centre and your website, which I had not ever heard of, appeared. I believe that happened for a reason, as all things do. This is a truly wonderful site and I am feeling that you are one of the "Guardian Angels" that has been placed here to help people, and offer some right direction for people such as myself. I love the elderly, animals, helping others and the country. I right now, just do not know where I belong. Could you, personally maybe offer me some insight as to how to deal with that. Thank you and God Bless!

More Stress As Things Get Worse
by: Anonymous

Hi Gavin: I told you that I am going through home foreclosure, bankruptcy, have no job as of yet and have 18 days left in the home. I was in preparation of a yard-sale on the weekend to make some money for first and last month's rent for a room.

I am beside myself Gavin. I have tried for so long and so hard to remain positive and be resilient, but this is about to put me right over the edge. My back is aching so badly that it hurts to breathe and I cannot stop crying for the life of me. I thought enough had happened to me and just want to get out of this house and start over. I need to drive for finding a job, and a place. Anyway so much for the "happiness thing". I realize how busy you are, but look very forward to hearing back. Thanks for listening!

Bye for now,

Tips For Handling Stressful Decisions
by: Gavin, Unlock Your Happiness.com

Hello Janet. Thank you for your kind words.
Regarding your question about not knowing where you belong, I would say you actually answered that question yourself, where you said you loved being in the country and working with older people.

One way to find what is best for you in any situation where there are options, is to imagine yourself in each option, one at a time, and preferably quite vividly. With each option, as you imagine it, sense how you feel. When you find the one that feels best and 'right', then that is the one you should choose. Your mind will possibly then come up with all sorts of logical and rational reasons as to why that is not possible or can never come to be (financial, current circumstances, and so on). But that is the mind speaking; it is not the truth.

I would also suggest that you work your way through the section on my website under the menu heading, "Attention".

In this regard, I want to emphasize one aspect: whatever we put our attention on, we enliven. And the longer and more consistently we tend to have our attention on it, the more concrete that situation becomes in our life. It does, in fact, become our reality. And because it is our (perceived) reality, it stays our 'story' and we keep it alive.
To change our 'reality', we must change what we give our attention to. And the way we do that is the same as the tip I have given above. The moment we feel less than happy, we catch what it is that we are thinking about, and giving our attention to, and we swivel our attention around to something else that feels better. That's all. This page summarizes it:
http://www.unlock-your-happiness.com/abraham-hicks.html The book referred to on that page is worth reading too.

And if you have not yet taken the course in Conscious Mental Rest, that is definitely something you should consider. You can start at this page:

Janet, I hope this helps.

All the best, and a Happy Canada Day to you.

Stress And Happiness Update
by: Janet

Hi Gavin:
I did not realize that you were in Africa. How exciting that sounds to me. All of my life I have wanted to go to Africa and see the animals and the scenery.

I have a rather ironic story to share with you. I hope you enjoy it, and I am sure you will be shaking your head after reading it. Well in 2008 I did care-giving for an elderly gentleman who I call Mr. P, who lives a 10-minute walk from my home. I was offered a full-time job and the care-giving company said it would not work with Mr. P's schedule so could not keep the care-giving job. It broke my heart. He has a (married) nephew and they knew how well I cared for him and how much he thought of me.

I have been to Oshawa looking at rooms, and felt so sick after some of the strange encounters and living accommodations I viewed. I am used to seeing about 20 cars a day, not 50 every 30 seconds. As I was running on very little time to find a place I was becoming very discouraged. Then I thought of the spare room at Mr. P's. I called the nephew and believe it or not I am renting a room at his house. His nephew and wife think that it will be good for Mr. P.

The fridge was very old and leaking water constantly, and he had a sliding glass door to the deck, that only "Hercules" could open. There was no screen in it either. Well the new sliding glass door has just been installed and a brand new fridge bought. Mr. P. is so happy, and I am so grateful.

I have, shall we say, 'two' green thumbs and gardening is my escape from everything. You won't believe this one but I took every single rock from my home, and every single flower and perennial, and have made a beautiful garden for Mr. P. Everyone is stopping to comment on how beautiful it looks.

So Gavin, I have lost my home and job, had my car that I loved dearly repossessed, have had to go on social assistance temporarily, and had my old winter-beater car break down. I am now stuck in the country in a small town with no bus stops what so ever. And you know what Gavin? It's all okay right now, because if I can extend Mr. P's life for any length of time, have my beautiful gardens to look at, and my little dog happy, right now that is all that matters to me.

So Gavin, in the end you were right, I did answer my own question. Life is pretty funny sometime. Anyway I so enjoy your e-mails but realize how busy you are. I am definitely going to take these courses, and when you are not too busy would love to hear back!

P.S.- If you know anyone selling an elephant or camel I am interested (ha!ha!).

How I Built This Website
I built this site myself, with no technical knowledge or experience, using a 10 year-old system. Now SBI! has an all-new BlockBuilder 2 that is awesome! I intend to create a second site with it and probably revamp this one too.
