The pursuit of happiness is a most ridiculous phrase: if you pursue happiness you'll never find it.
Comment: I agree. For more comments on this phrase from the United States Declaration of Independence, click on this link to go to my page on

Quotes of Happiness
Happiness is a conscious choice, not an automatic response.
Comment: I haven’t personally experienced making a conscious choice to be happy. Moreover, I have experienced outbursts of happiness as a quite automatic response to a situation of delight. So I have no idea what Barthel is trying to tell us here. It certainly doesn’t make sense to me.
Spread love everywhere you go. Let no one ever come to you without leaving happier.
Comment: I like this one. If people can leave your company feeling happier for having been with you, you are indeed playing a part in expanding happiness in the world. What’s more, if you know they’re happier when they leave you, this expands your own happiness too.
When you go into the space of nothingness, everything becomes known.
Comment: The space of nothingness is actually the realm of ‘everythingness’, except it is not yet manifest in time and space. It is the field of pure awareness, where there is no subject and separate object of awareness. There is unity. This is referred as transcendental consciousness, where thinking and thought are transcended and one is in a simple state of being – the home of all knowledge and wisdom. In that state there is an inner knowingness.
You can never learn anything that you did not already know.
Comment: Following on from the previous quote, all knowledge is structured in the unseen creative intelligence that permeates every aspect of life. Human knowledge is structured in the consciousness of the knower. This is wisdom. We read or hear things, and we connect to the truth in it according to our own state of consciousness. If we don’t have access to a particular aspect of inner wisdom, then when we hear it spoken or see it written, we will not be able to ‘learn’ it. Only when we know it already, and know that we know it (i.e. have conscious access to that wisdom), only then can we truly ‘learn’ it. Learning in this context is really a case of enlivening what we already know, or causing us to remember it at a conscious level.

The Kingdom of Heaven is within you.
Comment True happiness, peace and fulfilment resides within our own body. This is a universal truth. All that remains is to know how to access it and allow more of it to flow into our daily experience in life as a human being. We just need to know how to unlock our inner happiness. We need the

You can't teach anybody anything, only make them realize the answers are already inside them.
Comment: This is the corollary of the Aristotle quote above, which was about learning. This one is from the perspective of the teacher.
