Learn Conscious Mental Rest


You'll need at least 15 minutes twice a day

Before you decide to learn Conscious Mental Rest, have you satisfied yourself that you will indeed be able to set aside about 15 to 20 minutes or more twice a day for your daily undisturbed CMR sessions?

Preparation for Lessons 1 to 4

Lessons 1 to 4 are 'preliminaries' prior to your first experience of CMR when you begin to learn Conscious Mental Rest.

These four lessons are not lectures that you can listen to while working at your computer or having lunch.

You’ll need to be sitting comfortably with your eyes closed, ready to follow the instructions and experience the situations I am explaining in the audio guidance.

The Nature of Mental Activity (8 mins)


Preparation for Lessons 5 to 8

In Lessons 5 to 8 you will have your first guided sessions of Conscious Mental Rest.

These lessons should be followed sequentially in one sitting – a total of about 35 minutes.

It is essential that you are not disturbed during these lessons.

You should therefore take the following preparatory steps before starting the audio for Lessons 5 to 8.

  • Find a quiet spot in your home – your bedroom, study, library or some such suitable place – where there is a comfortable chair or a bed to sit on with your back supported and your head not resting against a wall or bedstead, and where you can reach the audio player's ON and OFF buttons.
  • Switch off any cellphone and put any landline phones on silent/voicemail and for the entire 35-minute session.
  • If you don't live alone, tell those at home that you need to rest for about 45 minutes and that they should wait until you come out of the room before talking to you. They are not to knock on the door or disturb you in an way at all.
  • Make sure you will not be disturbed by any pets, which should be out side your CMR room.
  • Close the door and get yourself ready for your first session of Conscious Mental Rest – i.e. audio player plugged in and ready to roll; seated comfortably as described; no bright sunlight shining in your eyes.


No Eastern or esoteric trappings please

For your sessions of CMR it is not necessary to cross your legs or assume the lotus position. Just sit comfortably with your hands on your lap, not on your knees.

Don't light any incense or follow any other traditionally Eastern rituals. It is not necessary for Conscious Mental Rest and could well be distracting.

After you've learnt CMR, you may - if you wish - continue to use the guided audio session (Lesson 7) for the next few sessions until you feel comfortable to handle the sessions on your own.

Remember, though, that this is only a 15-minute session. So it’s best to go solo without the audio as soon as possible, so that you can have longer sessions of Conscious Mental Rest.

Are you ready to learn Conscious Mental Rest?

Not everyone is ready to learn meditation. The same applies to Conscious Mental Rest.

If you feel comfortable with all of the following recommendations, and accept and agree to the terms and conditions below, then you are ready to start enhancing your quality of life with daily Conscious Mental Rest.

It is strongly recommended that:

  • you commit yourself to following the CMR course instructions to the letter, and to having TWO sessions of Conscious Mental Rest every day, for at least 21 days in order to properly assess the usefulness of CMR in your life;
  • you appreciate that the benefits of CMR as reported by others have been on the basis or two sessions of CMR a day, on a regular daily basis;
  • you start the Lessons only after you have made the necessary preparations - i.e.
    downloaded the audio files; set aside at least 40 minutes for the instruction sessions; set up a quiet, undisturbed place to sit comfortably for your CMR session; switched off phones, set up the audio player where you can reach the controls without having to stand up, etc.
