Christian Meditation

Is There A Good Method For Joy And Happiness

The term Christian Meditation is usually used to describe a meditation practice that is appropriate for Christians because it is based on Biblical references.

Free e-book and more with your new (free) subscription to the Happiness Hub monthly e-zineI’d like to introduce a different approach altogether; a new way of considering Christian meditation; a new way to support the experience of joy and happiness in one's Christianity.

But first, here are a few quotations from the Bible.

The Kingdom of God is Within

Matthew 6:33:
But seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Luke 17:
v 20: And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the Kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The Kingdom of God cometh not with observation:
V21: Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the Kingdom of God is within you.

Be still and know that I am God

Genesis 26:63:
And Isaac went out to meditate in the field at the eventide.

Different types of meditation

There are various types of meditation and many more meditation techniques or methods that fall into one or other of those meditation types or categories.

In this section of my happiness website I am talking about a kind of Christian meditation that has the potential not only to allow our mind to move towards stillness, but to actually transcend thinking and allow the mind to be still.

Such stillness of mind is much deeper than what is known as communion meditation, which, in my view, keeps the mind at the surface level of thoughts and activity.

This kind of meditation I'm referring to is far deeper and much more effective than others types such as contemplation, mindfulness and concentration.

Many meditation methods certainly do allow one to shift into a peaceful mood. However, what I call an 'effective' meditation goes beyond just a 'mood'.

It is a method that allows the entire mind-body system to rejuvenate itself from its inner essence, through the dissolution of deep-seated stresses stored in the body.

This, in turn, allows the meditator's individual consciousness to merge with the Divine consciousness that can be 'touched' in mental stillness at the source of thought.

Many Christians are losing out when it comes to meditation

Many Christians are missing out on the proven benefits of some very effective meditation techniques because such techniques are usually of Eastern origin and associated in some way with one or other of the Eastern religions.

Christians understandably do not wish to practise a method of meditation that might in some way be in conflict with their own beliefs. Better safe than sorry, many Christians feel.

Is there an effective meditation that is suitable for Christians?

Yes there is, and I'll tell you what it is and why I believe it is ideal for Christians. Click on the link below.
